Happy Easter

I hope you all enjoyed your Easter as much as we did! We took advantage of the beautiful day and took pictures! (duh! lol) And I think they turned out pretty cool. If you want to see them all head over to Persnickety's Facebook Page!

Happy Easter from the Thompson Family!
(Our family picture was taken by Tracy of Tracy Parron Photography)

The one above and the one below were both taken inside the church, right below amazing light coming from the window. This little turkey was not in the mood for picture taking but some how or another, some great pictures came out of it!

I am not crazy about my picture be taken but I needed a new one for the website, so my talented husband took a few of me. He was running back and forth and trying to get the "perfect picture." <----His words, not mine. (lol)

(Love the picture of my other half, captures who he is completely!)

My Packaging

As you all know, with every session I offer, I include 4x6 prints and a high-resolution CD. I was having so much difficulty in finding the best way to present it all to my clients. Now there are tons of companies that offer boutique boxes and this and that. But I just was not seeing what I was envisioning until, I saw Caroline Ghetes of Caroline Ghetes Photography and how she packages her CD's and pictures and I was blown away! (http://www.carolineghetes.com/blog/2009/10/02/eco-friendly-packaging/)
Everything was eco-friendly but at the same time still very professional. For $25 she will email you over a list of vendors where she buys everything from. Well, since I was blessed with my adoptive mother's creative gene (lol,) I was convinced I could do this myself. So I did! Below, is the final result!

Here is everything put together! *Side note: The only thing I was not able to make was the box (duh). I got those from Joann Fabric's.* From left to right: Picture Box with persnick's label and print storage. Next, is the print release form, also very important. And finally the CD cases and CD storage.

These CD cases were so easy to make! They are made from a heavier fabric and burlap from Joann Fabric's. Inside is card stock paper and a pocket for the CD.I didn't want to go with a busy, trendy, print fabric because I wanted everything to compliment my logo and simply go together. These were a bit more time consuming but totally worth it!

Slumber Party!

(This post couldn't get more personal! Below, is how I spent my Tuesday evening! Just a little glimpse into my life and how a busy mom is allowed to take break and have fun too!)

Not your typical "Slumber Party." No one brought their sleeping bags or scary ghost stories, this was a big girl Slumber Party. I basically used it as an excuse to have a girls night in. It was a great group of girls and we all had fun! I took the boy and girl (pictured above) and used it everywhere. It was simple, but a cute decoration!

I bought every kind of junk food I could think! Candy, chips, cookies and best of all, donuts! I put a sign on the table that read "Seducing Candy Bar," just play on the whole Slumber Party theme.

Favors, the whole reason you come the party right? Once again the boy and girl, just to add something small and a handwritten "thank you!" Inside the bags were massage oils and a lollipop!

Now, maybe this is the real reason people come to parties. (I know I spelled it Karma instead of Kama, but I think the point comes across!) Jelly Shots, Moscato, White Zin, and Riesling, started the evening and kept it going. We all spent too much money but in the end, we had a blast!

Bottom line, I loved every minute!

Where do I begin?....Let me start with my initial feelings about this weekend. In order ,they went from: excited, tired, stressed, overwhelmed, happy, exhausted, sad, bittersweet, rested. Those emotions begin on Friday and go til Monday.

If I were to go into detail about this crazy weekend, I could almost right a book. It was that memorable! To sum it up quickly, there were 12 people staying under one roof. Seven of them spanning from 9 months to 5 years old. And about the same amount were sick with either colds, ear infection or the occasion random throw up..,[insert long pause]... I have to chuckle when thinking about now. It's something that down the line we are going to wish we could do again. (w/o the sickies) No matter how hectic or stressful it was, I love my family!

200 people!

SIDE NOTE: That is crazy! 200 people know about Persnickety Photography...so freakin' happy! Thank you everyone for spreading the word about Persnickety!

CONT. READING FOR THE GOOD STUFF: For those of youwho read my blog on the reg. should remember my post towards the end of December expressing my feelings a little but more bluntly then normal. For those of you who have just started reading my blog here is what was said...

" My business resolution, like I mentioned above,is to get my name out there! It can be quite frustrating to have such a passion for something and not be able to share it with others! I love photography, especially catching little moments or big moments that you can treasure forever."

Even though this was not typed in CAPS or bold originally, it should have been because I was shouting it from the mountain tops, asking the LORD to throw something my way, anything at all. I was going bonkers, knowing that he had given me this talent with no one to share it with. (Besides family & friends, so I really can't say no one) There was def. some anger sent his way, which I am sure he was aware. And I'm sure he was getting a kick out of it because he knew what was coming. Well sure enough, only 2 months later and loads of patience that somehow came over me (did not pray for it FYI<---never pray for patience, it will bite you in the butt) he answered my prays and did he do an awesome job at that!

I have been given such a huge opportunity with the Maple Leaf Mission(www.themapleleafmission.com). I am loving the idea of giving someone the "gift of pictures" that they will have forever. Then on top of that, being able to do work with B'More Abilities Special Arts Center (www.BASAC.org)...wow. If that's not an answer to a pray, I don't know what is.

I am looking forward to what the future holds and all that it has to offer. I know that the LORD will continue to be right there with me, helping me to grow and trust in HIM. I also hope all of you will continue to be there as well! Your support and thoughtful words mean so much to me. Thank you again!

What a great hubby I have...

not to brag or any thing, but I think he is amazing! He trusted me enough to buy me a new engagement ring. I was quite surprised on V-Day when he gave it to me. It brought me to tears<--I am a complete whimp and cry at almost everthing now.

So the back story as to why I am on my third engagment ring: The first one, somehow or another lost a diamond out of it. It was not insured so we were not able to have it replaced. The third was just a gemstone ring that we got while we were in D.C for a weekend getaway. My lovely daughter got hold of the ring and lost it. Now, I am on to my third ring. I need to get it sized ASAP so I don't lose. But anyways, I love it and my husband was very thoughtful to get this for me. I'm a pretty lucky gal!
