HOME

I've been in town since yesterday but this is the first time I've been able to hop on the computer for any length of time. Anyways, I am back in Maryland! I had a great {much needed} trip to Missouri. Things go at a much slower pace in Missouri, each time I go I seem to remember why I love visiting so much, besides my family. Speaking of family, I got to shoot some newborn pics of my nephew Paul. He is adorable! (not just because he is my nephew) I also got to take some family pictures for the whole Schelp family<----(my sister's family). They had the ideal backdrop, their own front yard. It is acres, on top of acres of beautiful everything green! I couldn't have asked for a better session. Like I said the trip was def. needed and very much appreciated. Pictures or no pictures totally worth the 18hr car ride! Love you Schelp family!

I'm off to Missouri

I will be leaving @ exactly 2AM tomorrow morning to head to Missouri. By plane you ask? Oh no, I'd much rather drive 14-16hrs with Kayla, my parents and my brother. (insert big fake smile) I am thrilled to see my sister and her family that is out there but the drive is putting a nice dent on my excitement. Though, I am looking forward to taking pictures to their new addition, Paul. I plan on taking the newborn shots that I can't take with anyone else's kid. Meaning if anything life threatening happens, it's just my nephew. So I am super excited to show them to everyone when I get back. That's the other downer to this "vacation." There will be no internet, not even a Starbucks with free Wi-Fi. I am sure they are aware what year it is and all that technology has to offer but they have yet to jump on the whole internet thing. It's a money issue more or less but still, internet is a necessity no longer a want. So I will be disappearing off of the face of the earth for a few days, mainly the FB world but get you get the point by now. Enjoy your weekend, stay cool, and make sure to bring your camera to take pictures of everything! Life is always going by to quickly, you will want to capture it!

Laila

Today I got to do my first "newborn" shoot and I loved every minute of it.....well kinda. I had to take Kayla (my daughter) along for the shoot and I will neverItalic be doing that ever again. First of all not professional but seeing as it was family it wasn't to much of an embarrassment. Then, the fact that Kayla would freak out ( scream, cry, stomp etc) every minute I walked out of the room, also didn't help. So as much as I love my daughter, she is no longer my assistant at shoots.

Now, back to Laila. Tiny, cute, snuggly, kissable are just a few words to describe her. She was precious and did an awesome job as my first baby model. I would def. hire her again! The pictures are edited a bit more vintage and polaroid then normal. I love vintage and I am just starting to love blue hues in photos. Enjoy everyone!

Riley

Had such a great time shooting Riley! She was such a content, easy going baby that the shoot went real well. Even though I wasn't able to get her to smile, the pictures turned out very cute! I can't wait to take more of her as she gets older!

The site is up!....finally.

So the day has finally come. The site is up and looks exactly how I pictured it. It is in need of some flash and other fancy, web designing things. But the more I look at, I enjoy the simplicity of the whole site. It's pretty straight forward, user friendly, and it looks pretty quirky. The one thing that I was not able to get on the site tonight was the music. The music that will be playing will be Sondre Lerche by Modern Nature. It's from the movie Dan in Real Life. Not a great moving but def. has its moments. But back to the site. I really am glad it's over. Working with my husband was something that I will (pause)....treasure. Something that I enjoyed so much I will just hold onto the memory...
Overall I love the site and I hope that you will too! Make sure to spread the word about Persnickety and the blog... and you might as well talk about the FB page too. Night everyone!

Teaser!!

Tease!!! I love a good tease! Whether it's a sneak peak at Glee's next week's episode or getting your free ONE piece of Godiva chocolate once a month, I always take pleasure in a good tease. So let Persnickety tease you! Go ahead and head over to persnicketyphotography.com to get a sneak peak of the site. You'll be wanting more, I can assure you! Tomorrow will be the big day and words truly can't explain my excitement. It has taken a huge amount of time and patience on mine and my husbands part. I have to give him a tons of credit. He is a pretty amazing husband ( and dad!). But make sure to check out the tease and come back tomorrow evening for the real thing!

Tim and Ali

Rain. That about sums up today's shoot. Not really but it definitely made for a shoot I will never forget. Tim and Ali were great! (and so was Ray, their dog) They were really easy to shoot, not only because they are a gorgeous couple but also because they were so relaxed with one another. Having Ray there also made things a bit interesting. He was constantly trying to take the spotlight from Tim and Ali, which of course they did not mind. Overall it was a great shoot!

On a side note, I did want to make sure to mention their business, ZEST SOCIAL MEDIA SOLUTIONS. Here is a link to their FB page to find out more :http://www.facebook.com/zestsms?ref=ts .

Notice the new header?

Did you see it? Only took me about and hour or two in Fireworks and Photoshop to get it just right. But knowing me, it will change somehow or another within the few days. (Persnickety remember?) This whole blogging thing has gotten me kinda confused. I am still trying to figure my way out around here! Any advice is welcomed! (No longer asking the hubby for help with computer stuff; it's decided!) I have been reading up a bit about blogging, trying to get ideas and of course help, and it surprised me to see how many people are actually making $$ off of blogging. How cool is that? To get up in the morning and just start typing away about almost anything and making $$ off of it....my definition of easy living! And if you haven't noticed already this post has nothing to do with my passion but everything to do with my lack of computer/blogging skills. But like I said before any advice is welcomed!

FACEBOOK ?!

Yea...so I joined the FB wagon last night. I had held off up til now but thought I needed a better place to show case my pictures besides my own personal FB page. Now don't get me wrong, I love FB but I seem to procrastinate a lot. So the idea of building a whole other page just for Persnickety took a huge amount of motivation. (Lazy? Just a tad bit.) Anyways, the whole point of this post is to make sure that YOU go and LIKE my Persnickety Photography page on FB. (please!)

Young Love

I got the chance to shoot for two great friends this week, Corey and Ashely. They will be getting married in early October so engagement pics had to be done ASAP! Corey and Ashley's story is one that could easily be made into a movie screen love story. When they started dating it wasn't long after that Corey was then deployed to Afghanistan. It was a difficult time in the relationship for them but they made it through! Corey and I have been good friends since the 4th grade, so when he told us he was getting married to Ashley...finally...I couldn't have been more happy for them and for him! You've got a great guy there Ashley, don't you ever let him go!!!

Brittany and Kyle got hitched!

Here are a few snap shots from the wedding. The ceremony and reception were both beautiful and creative! The best part of the wedding had to have been the pizza and wings. It whole event was very relaxed and intimate. Congrats to you two and many blessings on your marriage!

Kayla & Ms. Mollie

Above are some of the pictures I took while we were in Wilmington, NC for my cousin's wedding. The sunset was beautiful so I had to take advantage of it! So of course I grabbed some of the cutest girls I know! My daughter, Kayla and my cousin Ms. Mollie! They made the pictures turn out great! And more importantly the girls had a blast at the beach.

Persnickety Photography

Welcome to the blog! My name is Juanita and I am the person behind the camera of Persnickety Photography. I am still in the middle of finishing my website or I guess I really should say my husband is in the middle of finishing the site. As I vented earlier this morning on Facebook you would think that his wife's website would be top priority but I guess I was wrong. Everyday he gets the same speech from me about finishing the site and each day he puts with it so I give him props for being such a great husband and not telling me to shut up about it.

Anyways here is the blog!! Make sure to check back every now and then to see what's new with Persnickety. I plan on updating it frequently with new pictures, advice about what not to wear to a shoot, about my everyday life and other random tidbits. But it will be mainly about Persnickety. So once again welcome! Sit back and enjoy a good read!
